R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Moisés E. Molina High School of the Dallas |
|
Independent School District has been recognized as a Gold Ribbon |
|
High School for 2017 by the nonprofit advocacy organization |
|
Children at Risk; and |
|
WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Children at Risk has ranked |
|
schools across the state as a guide for parents, educators, and |
|
community members and as a way to inspire dialogue about the quality |
|
of public education; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each school is evaluated according to its STAAR test |
|
scores in reading and math, its improvement over time on |
|
standardized test scores in English, reading, and math, and its |
|
success in preparing students for college; these indicators are |
|
adjusted to eliminate bias toward schools with a low percentage of |
|
students living in poverty; those traditional neighborhood schools |
|
that have a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students |
|
and that receive an A or a B in the Children at Risk rankings are |
|
designated Gold Ribbon campuses; Molina High was one of three high |
|
schools in North Texas to achieve this honor; and |
|
WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is a vital enterprise, |
|
and the teachers and administrators of Molina High School may take |
|
great pride in their efforts to help their students reach their full |
|
potential and become engaged and productive members of their |
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Moisés E. Molina High School on its |
|
recognition as a 2017 Gold Ribbon High School and extend to the |
|
school's faculty and staff sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success in their important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
