R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Rise Academy in Lubbock has been named a National |
|
Title I Distinguished School by the Texas Education Agency; and |
|
WHEREAS, The prestigious award is given to Title I schools |
|
that meet high academic performance criteria and that serve a |
|
significant number of low-income students; Rise Academy is one of |
|
only two campuses in the state to receive the honor for this |
|
academic year; and |
|
WHEREAS, The independent public charter school was founded in |
|
September 1999 by Richard Baumgartner, who continues to lead the |
|
school as its director; it serves approximately 275 students from |
|
prekindergarten through eighth grade, many of whom reside in East |
|
and Northeast Lubbock neighborhoods; and |
|
WHEREAS, For almost two decades, Rise Academy teachers and |
|
staff, along with dedicated parents, have worked tirelessly to |
|
ensure that students of every demographic and socioeconomic |
|
background at the school receive an education of the highest |
|
quality; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rise Academy in Lubbock on its |
|
selection as a National Title I Distinguished School and extend |
|
sincere best wishes to the school's leaders, teachers, and staff |
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
