R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Cayla Symone Simple of
  Fresno suffered an immeasurable loss with the tragic death of this
  vibrant and beloved young woman on March 19, 2017, at the age of 19;
  and
         WHEREAS, Cayla Simple was born on February 4, 1998, in Lake
  Jackson to De'Andre Simple and Saphonya Revis; she grew up in West
  Columbia and graduated in 2016 from Hightower High School, where
  she became the first student in the Fort Bend Independent School
  District to receive a full scholarship in athletic training; at the
  time of her passing, she had served as an athletic trainer for four
  years, and she was pursuing a degree in the field at Navarro College
  in Corsicana; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to her faith from an early age, Ms. Simple
  was a valued congregant of Open Door Community Church; she was
  blessed with a bright smile and a kind and cheerful disposition that
  won her many devoted friends; and
         WHEREAS, Although no words can ease the heartache of losing
  one so young and full of promise, those who were fortunate enough to
  know Cayla Simple may find comfort in remembering the wonderful
  times they shared with her and the radiant joy with which she lived
  her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Cayla Symone Simple
  and extend deepest condolences to the members of her family: to her
  parents, De'Andre Simple and Saphonya Revis; to her sister, Londyn
  Mallet; to her grandfathers, Charles Davis and Alphonse Revis Jr.;
  to her grandmother, Donna Dues; to her great-grandmothers, Dorothy
  Fisher and Espinola Grice; to her dear friends, De'Janey Strawn,
  Phadhashaia Wallace, Jorahja Lewis, and Keilani McCann; and to her
  other friends and relatives; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cayla
  Simple.
