R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Fort Worth is
  celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Since opening its doors in 2002, Cesar Chavez
  Elementary has built a notable record of scholastic achievement; in
  addition to continually meeting standards set forth by the Texas
  Education Agency, the school earned distinction for English
  language arts and reading in 2013 and for academic growth and
  progress in 2014; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by principal Monica Ordaz, the
  institution is dedicated to offering students a dynamic curriculum
  that not only prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of
  tomorrow but also promotes creative thinking and a lifelong love of
  learning; the school is in its second year of implementing Project
  Lead the Way, which encourages students to develop an understanding
  of the computer science, engineering, and biomedical science fields
  while improving their ability to solve problems and work as part of
  a team; moreover, Cesar Chavez is the only elementary school in the
  Fort Worth Independent School District to include classes in
  glasswork, ceramics, oil painting, and murals; and
         WHEREAS, The school's faculty and staff have successfully
  nurtured excellence in a number of extracurricular activities, with
  many of their students garnering special recognition in the arts,
  including placing first in the University Interscholastic League
  music memory contest; the campus also supports three dance teams,
  including lyrical and hip-hop, ballroom, and adult ballroom, as
  well as a host of academic and athletic clubs; and
         WHEREAS, For a decade and a half, Cesar Chavez Elementary has
  provided many young Texans with a strong educational foundation,
  and it is indeed a pleasure to honor the school on this milestone
  occasion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 15th anniversary of Cesar Chavez
  Elementary School and extend to its administrators, faculty, staff,
  and students sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
