R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, William Andrew Scanlon II has been presented with a |
|
Rising Star Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M |
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the |
|
university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) |
|
initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |
|
resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |
|
students; in receiving a Rising Star Award, William was recognized |
|
for his academic achievements and community involvement; and |
|
WHEREAS, A high-achieving third grader, William was born in |
|
San Diego, California, but grew up primarily in Yokosuka, Japan, |
|
where he was introduced to cultural diversity at a young age; the |
|
son of navy veteran William A. Scanlon and Marisa Bel Scanlon, he |
|
enjoys reading books, listening to music, singing, dancing, and |
|
practicing his Japanese; he plans to study engineering and robotics |
|
in college in pursuit of his dreams of doing great things to help |
|
others; and |
|
WHEREAS, William Andrew Scanlon II is indeed deserving of |
|
this prestigious honor, and he may look forward to a future bright |
|
with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate William Andrew Scanlon II on his |
|
receipt of a TRIO Islanders Organization Rising Star Award and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for William as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
