R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Devonta McDade has been presented with a Community |
|
|
Service Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the |
|
|
university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) |
|
|
initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |
|
|
resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |
|
|
students; in receiving a Community Service Award, Mr. McDade was |
|
|
recognized for his participation in a number of the group's |
|
|
community service projects; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Mr. McDade is a sophomore at |
|
|
TAMU--CC, where he is working toward a degree in criminal justice |
|
|
with the goal of serving his country as an FBI or CIA agent or as a |
|
|
United States marshal; he is also enrolled in the Student Support |
|
|
Services--STEM program and mentors his fellow students in Project |
|
|
GRAD; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Devonta McDade is indeed deserving of this |
|
|
prestigious honor, and he may look forward to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Devonta McDade on his receipt of a |
|
|
TRIO Islanders Organization Community Service Award and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. McDade as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
