R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Reymundo Barrera has been presented with a Key |
|
|
Spouse Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the |
|
|
university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) |
|
|
initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |
|
|
resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |
|
|
students; in receiving a Key Spouse Award, Mr. Barrera was |
|
|
recognized for going above and beyond in his efforts to support his |
|
|
wife, Jessica Barrera, who currently serves as treasurer of the |
|
|
organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An alumnus of Del Mar College, Mr. Barrera has |
|
|
devoted himself to the care of the couple's family, which includes |
|
|
seven children and two grandchildren, thereby enabling his wife to |
|
|
pursue her educational goals; he has also volunteered alongside his |
|
|
wife at many of the TRIO Islanders community service projects and |
|
|
helped out during organizational meetings; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Reymundo Barrera has generously contributed to the |
|
|
worthwhile mission of the TRIO Islanders Organization, and he is |
|
|
indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Reymundo Barrera on his receipt of |
|
|
a Key Spouse Award and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Barrera as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
