R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Patsy Ruth Willingham Phillips Alexius on August 31,
  2016, at the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth Willingham,
  the former Patsy Willingham was born in Overton on August 8, 1941;
  she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in
  education at Stephen F. Austin State University and served as a
  teacher and counselor in public schools in Galena Park, Archer
  City, Windthorst, and Austin; immensely dedicated to her students,
  she made a positive difference in countless young lives, and she was
  a caring mentor to many colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Alexius was committed to the advancement of her
  profession; she served as an officer in the Texas School Counselors
  Association, and she advocated successfully for the passage of
  Licensed Professional Counselor legislation; in recognition of her
  contributions, she was awarded License Number 2, and she received
  numerous accolades for her work on behalf of her profession; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Mrs. Alexius took great pride
  in her children, Beth Phillips Noles and State Representative Larry
  Phillips; through the years, she rejoiced in becoming "MeMaw" to
  Sidney, Henry, and Meribeth Phillips, Cole Maupin, and Alexus and
  Spencer Davis, and she loved taking her grandchildren on trips and
  hearing about their daily activities; Mrs. Alexius and her husband,
  Robert Alexius, shared a rewarding relationship of 36 years, and
  they especially enjoyed camping, taking cruises, and traveling to
  music festivals; and
         WHEREAS, Possessed of a kind, compassionate nature and an
  intrepid spirit, Patsy Alexius brightened the world for all who
  knew her, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Patsy Ruth
  Willingham Phillips Alexius and extend deep sympathy to her
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patsy
  Alexius.
