R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cristina Arriola was honored as the Del Mar College
  Paralegal Student of the Year at a ceremony held on April 27, 2017;
  and
         WHEREAS, Making her accomplishment all the more impressive,
  Ms. Arriola has overcome a series of challenges to attain this
  accolade; after dropping out of high school in the 10th grade and
  sustaining a number of personal losses, she enrolled at Del Mar
  College in 2014 to obtain her GED and has since set her sights on a
  career in law; in recognition of her exemplary efforts at Del Mar,
  she was previously named the Outstanding Academic Student for her
  department; and
         WHEREAS, Supported by the guidance and encouragement of her
  professors, Ms. Arriola hopes to use her legal training to make a
  meaningful difference in the lives of others; her current plans
  include earning a degree in political science at the University of
  Houston before going on to law school; and
         WHEREAS, This notable Texan has demonstrated exceptional
  initiative and determination in the pursuit of her goals, and she
  may indeed reflect with pride on all that she has accomplished as
  she looks ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Cristina Arriola on her selection
  as the Paralegal Student of the Year by Del Mar College and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Arriola as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
