R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Renita Newton has been presented with a Community |
|
|
Service Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the |
|
|
university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) |
|
|
initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |
|
|
resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |
|
|
students; in receiving a Community Service Award, Ms. Newton was |
|
|
recognized for participating in a number of local service projects |
|
|
coordinated by TRIO Islanders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate student at TAMU--CC, Ms. Newton is |
|
|
working toward a master's degree in counseling with a dual emphasis |
|
|
on clinical mental health and addictions; she plans to pursue a |
|
|
career working with at-risk youth afflicted by mental health and |
|
|
drug or alcohol abuse issues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Renita Newton is indeed deserving of this |
|
|
prestigious honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Renita Newton on her receipt of a |
|
|
TRIO Islanders Organization Community Service Award and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Newton as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
