H.R. No. 2184

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Leland Vance Jordan Jr. was presented with a Golden Trowel Award by Masonic Lodge No. 856 in Joaquin on April 15, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The highest honor that a lodge can bestow on a member, this accolade is given annually to an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to upholding the Freemasonry tenets of brotherly love, relief of the distressed, and truth; and

WHEREAS, Since joining the Masonic order in 1994, Mr. Jordan has benefited his fellow members through service in a variety of leadership positions, including his current role as the longest-tenured master in lodge history; a valued congregant of Jackson Missionary Baptist Church, he has generously volunteered his time to help feed the needy in the local community, and each year he travels to Honduras to drill wells for those without access to fresh, clean water; he has further distinguished himself as a member of the Joaquin Independent School District Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, For nearly a quarter century, Leland Jordan Jr. has made a positive difference in the lives of many people through his involvement with the Masons, and this award is indeed a fitting recognition of his outstanding efforts to advance the mission of that fellowship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Leland Vance Jordan Jr. on receiving a Golden Trowel Award from Masonic Lodge No. 856 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Jordan as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
