R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Love INC of Angelina County is celebrating its 25th |
|
|
anniversary in 2018; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1993 at the instigation of Frances |
|
|
Shurley and Ken Smith, Love In the Name of Christ of Angelina County |
|
|
is one of more than 150 local affiliates of the national Love INC |
|
|
movement, which had its beginnings in 1977 and which seeks to train, |
|
|
unite, and mobilize churches in order to better meet the needs of |
|
|
their communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its establishment in Angelina County, the |
|
|
ministry has grown to include a network of 210 churches throughout |
|
|
East Texas, as well as a host of partnering support agencies; over |
|
|
the years, its volunteers have generously given more than 3.5 |
|
|
million hours of their time to assist individuals and families |
|
|
struggling with hunger, homelessness, child neglect, unemployment, |
|
|
substance abuse, household and transportation needs, loneliness, |
|
|
illiteracy, and medical care; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For a quarter of a century, Love INC of Angelina |
|
|
County has fostered a spirit of teamwork and charity among local |
|
|
churches and their members, and in doing so, it has impacted the |
|
|
lives of countless Texans and has set an inspiring example of |
|
|
community service; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of Love INC of |
|
|
Angelina County and extend to all those associated with the group |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
