R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Chantal Thantrong of Cypress Creek High School, a |
|
|
semifinalist in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program, |
|
|
was honored at a ceremony held on February 6, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Launched in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship |
|
|
Program is an academic competition that offers some of the |
|
|
country's brightest students an opportunity to compete for |
|
|
scholarships; semifinalists place among the top 1 percent of the |
|
|
approximately 1.6 million students who enter the program each year |
|
|
by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship |
|
|
Qualifying Test; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The only student at Cypress Creek High School to |
|
|
attain this prestigious honor, Ms. Thantrong has distinguished |
|
|
herself as an individual of notable scholastic aptitude, and her |
|
|
success is a source of great pride for her family and friends; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chantal Thantrong has demonstrated exceptional |
|
|
determination and intellectual ability in the pursuit of her goals, |
|
|
and she is indeed deserving of recognition for this outstanding |
|
|
achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chantal Thantrong on being named a |
|
|
National Merit Scholar semifinalist and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Thantrong as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
