R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Savannah Cushman of Sea Scout Ship 208, SSS Red |
|
|
Skies, in Baytown has been appointed as the 2017-2018 regional |
|
|
boatswain for the Boy Scouts of America Sea Scouts Southern Region; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Cushman will take office on June 1, 2017, |
|
|
bringing with her knowledge and skills gained during her time as a |
|
|
ship boatswain; she is a certified lifeguard and SCUBA diver, and |
|
|
she has also completed Sea Scout Experience Advanced Leadership |
|
|
Training and National Youth Leadership Training programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Along with achieving distinction in the Sea Scouts, |
|
|
Ms. Cushman has excelled as a participant in the STEM Academy at |
|
|
Robert E. Lee High School, where she was recently recognized as the |
|
|
STEM Student of the Month; a member of the National Honor Society, |
|
|
she is also a skilled oboist, and she has competed with the varsity |
|
|
tennis and junior varsity volleyball teams; in addition, she is a |
|
|
valued member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her scouting career, Savannah Cushman |
|
|
has upheld the highest standards of the Sea Scouts, and she may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on her notable achievements as she takes |
|
|
on her new role as regional boatswain; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Savannah Cushman on her |
|
|
appointment as regional boatswain for the Sea Scouts Southern |
|
|
Region and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Cushman as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
