R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Chase Miller of the Granbury Police Department |
|
demonstrated remarkable skill and composure by saving the life of a |
|
three-year-old boy on October 12, 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, On that evening, Officer Miller responded to a 9-1-1 |
|
call about a child at a KFC restaurant who had suffered a seizure |
|
and stopped breathing; although he was not dispatched to the scene, |
|
Officer Miller was nearby and arrived before paramedics; he |
|
immediately administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the |
|
victim, who soon began breathing again and later recovered at a |
|
local hospital; and |
|
WHEREAS, In honor of his heroism, Officer Miller was |
|
presented with a Life Saving Award by the department at a ceremony |
|
that was attended by the boy, Brayden Geis, and his parents, John |
|
Geis and Bethany Hoover; moreover, Officer Miller's actions were |
|
captured on his dashboard camera, and the video has been viewed more |
|
than 125 million times on YouTube; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Miller graduated with a bachelor's degree in |
|
wildlife management from Tarleton State University and worked on a |
|
number of ranches around the state before joining the Granbury |
|
Police Department in 2013; in all his endeavors, he is supported by |
|
the love and encouragement of his wife, Courtney, and he takes |
|
immense pride in their son, Levi; and |
|
WHEREAS, The prompt, expert intervention by Officer Chase |
|
Miller averted a potential tragedy, and his performance in a crisis |
|
situation reflects admirably on the police department with which he |
|
serves and the entire law enforcement community; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Officer Chase Miller for saving the life |
|
of a young boy and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success in his important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Miller as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
