R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy in San Antonio received a
  silver medal from U.S. News & World Report in the publication's 2017
  Best High Schools feature; and
         WHEREAS, To produce this year's list, U.S. News & World
  Report evaluated more than 20,000 public high schools in all 50
  states and the District of Columbia; a number of factors were
  considered in making the analysis, including figures on college
  readiness, graduation rates, student-teacher ratios, and student
  performance in comparison to the state average; the assessment also
  focused on the progress of disadvantaged students and the size of
  the achievement gap on each campus; and
         WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy is an open-enrollment
  charter school with a focus on math, science, engineering, and
  computer technology; ably led by principal Yasar Cakir, the
  academy's faculty and staff are devoted to creating a safe, caring,
  and collaborative educational environment where students can build
  a strong foundation for future success; and
         WHEREAS, Through their dedication, hard work, and
  perseverance, the teachers and students of Harmony Science Academy
  have established a record of scholastic excellence, and their
  outstanding efforts are indeed deserving of this notable honor;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Harmony Science Academy in San
  Antonio on receiving a silver medal from U.S. News & World Report in
  the 2017 Best High Schools feature and commend all those associated
  with the academy for their accomplishments; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Harmony Science Academy as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
