R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, For nearly six decades, Dr. William Gonzaba has
  provided skilled and compassionate care to his patients in San
  Antonio, both as a physician and as founder of the Gonzaba Medical
  Group; and
         WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree from The
  University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Gonzaba graduated with a medical
  degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston; in
  1960, he opened his family practice near the neighborhood where he
  had grown up in San Antonio, and within two decades, it had expanded
  enough for him to bring on additional doctors; and
         WHEREAS, In need of a larger space, the Gonzaba Medical Group
  renovated the old Pan American Restaurant building and reopened it
  in 1986 as a state-of-the-art health care facility featuring a
  laboratory and an outpatient surgery center; the group went on to
  open additional clinics in other neighborhoods, and in 2000,
  Dr. Gonzaba's sons, Dr. Tom Gonzaba and Dr. Greg Gonzaba, joined
  the practice; today, Gonzaba Medical Group employs more than 50
  physicians and other medical professionals in seven clinics and an
  occupational medicine and therapy center; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to leading this successful group
  practice as president and CEO, Dr. Gonzaba has served as clinical
  assistant professor in the Department of Family Practice at The UT
  Health Science Center; his many honors include the Entrepreneur of
  the Year Award from Ernst & Young, Inc. magazine and Merrill Lynch,
  the Mexican American Hispanic Physicians Association Hall of Fame
  Award, the Adelante Award from Hispanic magazine, and the Health
  Care Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Antonio
  Business Journal; and
         WHEREAS, From a small beginning 57 years ago, Dr. Gonzaba has
  built a health care empire and made a positive difference in the
  lives of thousands of his fellow residents, and he may indeed take
  great pride in all that he has achieved during a lifetime of service
  to others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Dr. William Gonzaba for his
  contributions to the health and welfare of the people of San Antonio
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Gonzaba as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
