R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Texas author Jeff Edward Frazier Sr. of Amarillo has
  earned great distinction for himself with the success of his
  Michael's Sermon series of novels; and
         WHEREAS, Born in the state of Washington, Mr. Frazier moved
  with his family to Silsbee, Texas, when he was in the fourth grade;
  after graduating from Silsbee High School, he served his nation in
  the U.S. Air Force for five years before embarking upon a career as
  a civilian security officer for the Department of Energy; he has
  worked at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in Freeport and at the
  Pantex nuclear weapons facility in Amarillo; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Frazier began his writing career by creating
  plays and skits for his local church and then moved on to writing
  short stories; after hearing a particularly powerful sermon in
  church, he came up with the idea of a character named Michael, a
  former juvenile delinquent in East Texas who delivers a one-word
  sermon that changes forever the lives of those who hear it; and
         WHEREAS, Though Mr. Frazier originally intended to write a
  stand-alone book, his idea proved so fruitful that it has given rise
  to a series; titles so far include Receiving the Word, Learning the
  Word, Preaching the Word, and Searching for Michael, with a fifth
  volume on the way; in addition to their message of hope, the books
  offer deep explorations of the culture and religious heritage of
  East Texas, with the stories featuring landmarks and events from
  the author's childhood in Silsbee; and
         WHEREAS, More recently, Mr. Frazier has returned to a project
  he first began two decades ago, a novel about Jesus from the point
  of view of his neighbors; in all his endeavors, this esteemed Texan
  enjoys the love and support of his wife of 34 years, Donna, and his
  son, Jeff Edward Frazier II; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Frazier's talent, determination, and deep
  religious faith have enabled him to create a series of novels that
  both entertain and inspire their readers, and he may indeed take
  great pride in his achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jeff Edward Frazier Sr. on his
  Michael's Sermon series of novels and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Frazier as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
