R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of William Howard Kennedy of Woodsboro on May 7, 2017, at
  the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the Greatest Generation, Bill Kennedy
  served his country as a medic in World War II and earned the rank of
  staff sergeant; he subsequently attended the University of
  Missouri, and after receiving a bachelor of journalism degree in
  1949, he went on to enjoy a successful career in the field, working
  as a sportswriter and as an editor for six different newspapers; in
  addition, he served as the postmaster of Woodsboro from 1967 to
  1986; and
         WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Kennedy was
  the proud father of seven children, Steven, Sherri, Bonnie, David,
  Judi, Kevyn, and Michael, and with the passing years, his life was
  further enriched by his 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren,
  and 3 great-great-grandchildren; he was also dedicated to his
  community, and he became known by many in South Texas for his
  letters to the editor and his loyalty to the Democratic Party; and
         WHEREAS, Although Bill Kennedy is deeply missed, he has left
  his family and friends with many cherished memories of his warmth,
  wisdom, and delightful sense of humor, and he will forever hold a
  special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Howard
  Kennedy and extend sincere condolences to his family and to all who
  mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
  Kennedy.
