R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Shirlane Wilkerson is retiring from the U.S. Social
  Security Administration on June 30, 2017, drawing to a close a
  notable tenure that has spanned nearly a quarter century; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Orange, Shirlane Wilkerson graduated
  from Emma H. Wallace Junior-Senior High School in 1964; she
  subsequently answered her nation's call to duty as a member of the
  U.S. Marine Corps, and her three years of service included
  assignments at Camp Pendleton in California and Camp H. M. Smith in
  Hawaii; after returning to civilian life, she earned a bachelor's
  degree in applied science from the University of California,
  Berkeley; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Wilkerson gained many years of professional
  experience in a variety of fields, particularly the oil and gas
  industry, before joining the U.S. Social Security Administration;
  over the decades, her exemplary efforts have garnered her the
  lasting respect and admiration of her colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, Retirement will undoubtedly afford Ms. Wilkerson
  the opportunity to spend more time with her beloved family,
  including her husband of 27 years, Larry Wilkerson, and her son,
  Darral Watts, and she looks forward to traveling and living life to
  the fullest; and
         WHEREAS, The dedication and professionalism demonstrated by
  Shirlane Wilkerson have greatly benefited her fellow citizens, and
  she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Shirlane Wilkerson on her
  retirement from the U.S. Social Security Administration and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Wilkerson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
