R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Loren Rodney Overbo on May 6, 2016, at the age of 77; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Chester and Irene Overbo, Loren Overbo |
|
was born on July 10, 1938, in LaMoure, North Dakota; he pledged with |
|
the Kappa Sigma fraternity while a student at the University of |
|
North Dakota, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1964; |
|
two years later, he moved to Austin and began working as a systems |
|
analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs; he retired in 1997; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Overbo married the former Joan Gierszewski in |
|
1961, and the couple became the parents of two sons, Tim and Ron, |
|
and two daughters, Cindy and Wendy; with the passing years, |
|
Mr. Overbo had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include six |
|
grandchildren, James, Doug, Lia, Brandon, Phillip, and Casey, and a |
|
great-granddaughter, Ava; his life was further enriched by the love |
|
and companionship of his second wife, the former Carolyn |
|
Stephenson, whom he married in 2000; and |
|
WHEREAS, A scoutmaster and a valued member of the Moose |
|
Lodge, Mr. Overbo spent his spare time pursuing a variety of |
|
outdoor activities, including hunting, camping, boating, and |
|
gardening; he also had a knack for woodworking and crafts, and he |
|
was a skilled mechanic and a passionate car enthusiast; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his intelligence, kindness, and witty |
|
sense of humor, Loren Overbo touched countless lives during his |
|
journey on this earth, and all those fortunate enough to have known |
|
him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Loren Rodney Overbo |
|
and extend deepest condolences to his relatives and many friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Loren |
|
Overbo. |
