R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Loren Rodney Overbo on May 6, 2016, at the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Chester and Irene Overbo, Loren Overbo
  was born on July 10, 1938, in LaMoure, North Dakota; he pledged with
  the Kappa Sigma fraternity while a student at the University of
  North Dakota, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1964;
  two years later, he moved to Austin and began working as a systems
  analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs; he retired in 1997;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Overbo married the former Joan Gierszewski in
  1961, and the couple became the parents of two sons, Tim and Ron,
  and two daughters, Cindy and Wendy; with the passing years,
  Mr. Overbo had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include six
  grandchildren, James, Doug, Lia, Brandon, Phillip, and Casey, and a
  great-granddaughter, Ava; his life was further enriched by the love
  and companionship of his second wife, the former Carolyn
  Stephenson, whom he married in 2000; and
         WHEREAS, A scoutmaster and a valued member of the Moose
  Lodge, Mr. Overbo spent his spare time pursuing a variety of
  outdoor activities, including hunting, camping, boating, and
  gardening; he also had a knack for woodworking and crafts, and he
  was a skilled mechanic and a passionate car enthusiast; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his intelligence, kindness, and witty
  sense of humor, Loren Overbo touched countless lives during his
  journey on this earth, and all those fortunate enough to have known
  him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Loren Rodney Overbo
  and extend deepest condolences to his relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Loren
  Overbo.
