R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ronald
  Richard Butts of Lubbock, who passed away on February 28, 2017, at
  the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Edward Butts and Edna Mae Butts, Ron Butts
  was born in Conchas, New Mexico, on September 3, 1939; he lived in
  many places in his youth, including Las Vegas, Nevada, Honolulu,
  Hawaii, and Albuquerque, New Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Butts completed his bachelor's degree in
  pharmacy at the University of New Mexico, and after settling in
  Lubbock, he worked at a number of pharmacies, including Gibson's,
  Raff and Hall, Eckerd, and Albertson's; in the 1980s, he founded his
  own pharmacy, Ron's Medicine Chest, where many customers sought out
  his expertise; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Butts shared a fulfilling
  marriage of 56 years with his wife, Beatrice; he was the proud
  father of Kym Michalik, Ken Butts, Debbie Braganza, and Carrie
  Ashley, and in later years, he became the grandfather of Jordan,
  Joey, and Maddie Michalik, Megan Braganza, and Avery Stangl; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Butts battled Parkinson's disease for two
  decades but did not let his illness define him; an avid
  photographer, he viewed the world through his camera lens; he
  recorded every gathering and preserved images from trips to Las
  Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and elsewhere in photo albums and slide
  collections; when he wanted a change of scenery, he loved to go
  fishing in the Colorado mountains, and he traveled to South Bend,
  Indiana, in 2001 to watch the University of Notre Dame play the
  University of Southern California; a longtime fan of the Fighting
  Irish, he was delighted to cheer them on twice at the Cotton Bowl as
  well; and
         WHEREAS, Although Ron Butts is deeply missed by those he left
  behind, they will forever treasure their memories of time spent in
  his company; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ronald Richard Butts
  and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ronald
  Butts.
