R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The retirement of Gena Gardiner from the Highland |
|
Park Independent School District in 2017 provides a fitting |
|
opportunity to recognize her for her 14 years of dedicated service |
|
to the district; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Gardiner began her career in education as a |
|
fifth-grade teacher in 1977; since joining HPISD in 2002, she has |
|
served as a teacher and principal and, most recently, as the |
|
assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and special |
|
programs; in that position, she has played a key role in launching |
|
many educational initiatives, including the Passport to Spanish |
|
foreign-language program and the Moody Innovation Institute; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected and admired by her peers, Ms. Gardiner has |
|
presented at numerous state and national conferences and |
|
organizational meetings; she is a former president of the Texas |
|
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, which |
|
recognized her hard work and commitment to excellence with a Star |
|
Advocate Award in 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for her dedication to supporting each Highland |
|
Park student from the moment they enter kindergarten until their |
|
graduation from high school, Gena Gardiner has helped equip |
|
countless young Texans with the knowledge and skills they need to |
|
build a bright future, and she may reflect with pride on a career |
|
well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gena Gardiner on her retirement |
|
from the Highland Park Independent School District and extend to |
|
her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Gardiner as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
