R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Randy Allen, head football coach at Highland Park
  High School in Dallas, augmented his already stellar record when he
  attained his 350th career victory on September 16, 2016; and
         WHEREAS, The memorable win came in front of a home crowd at
  Highlander Stadium in the District 15-5A season opener against
  Lovejoy High School; the Scots triumphed by a score of 27-20 to lift
  Coach Allen to a new plateau of success; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Allen began his coaching career as an assistant
  at Bryan High School in 1973 and went on to prove his ability as a
  head coach at Ballinger, Brownwood, and Abilene Cooper High
  Schools; since taking the helm of HPHS football in 1999, he has
  piloted his teams to numerous playoff appearances, and in 2005, he
  guided the Scots to their first-ever undefeated season and the
  University Interscholastic League 4A state title; today, he ranks
  fourth on the list of all-time winningest coaches in Texas high
  school football; and
         WHEREAS, Off the gridiron, Coach Allen has distinguished
  himself through his involvement with the Fellowship of Christian
  Athletes, serving as a member of the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth FCA
  Leadership Advisory Board and volunteering with his school's
  chapter, and the organization presented him with its 2013 Grant
  Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award; moreover, he has recounted his
  experiences on the sidelines in two books, Coaching by the Book and
  Coaching Character; and
         WHEREAS, In reaching the 350-win mark, Randy Allen has
  burnished his reputation as one of the top high school football
  coaches in the Lone Star State, and it is a pleasure to commend him
  on achieving this rare feat; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Randy Allen on his 350th
  career victory and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Allen as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
