R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Dumas High School boys' wrestling team reached
  the pinnacle of success by winning the 5A championship at the 2017
  University Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament, held
  February 24 and 25 at the Berry Center in Cypress; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the state's top high school competitors at
  the meet, the Demons turned in an outstanding performance, tallying
  a total of 92 points to claim the gold medal; the victory capped off
  a memorable season in which the Dumas wrestlers also earned the
  district and regional titles; and
         WHEREAS, Pacing the Demons at the state meet was Zach Garza,
  who was crowned state champion in the 152-pound weight division;
  Jesse Martinez also added to the team's overall score with a
  fourth-place finish in the 106-pound class, and Landon Williams and
  Braxton Montgomery each placed fifth at 120 and 132 pounds,
  respectively; moreover, fellow teammate Gilbert Falcon earned
  sixth in the 138-pound division; and
         WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Demons
  received valuable contributions throughout the year from each
  member of the roster, and these talented student-athletes were
  inspired to perform to their full potential by head coach Clint
  Chamblin and his staff; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state title represents the culmination of
  countless hours of hard work and an enduring commitment to
  excellence, and the members of the Dumas High School boys'
  wrestling team have become a source of great pride to their school
  and community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Dumas High School boys'
  wrestling team on winning the 5A championship at the 2017 UIL
  Wrestling State Tournament and extend to the athletes sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
