R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Gladys Genevieve Martindale of New Boston on March 25, |
|
2017, at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of William Franklin and Nettie Hill, |
|
the former Gladys Hill was born on June 12, 1924, in Bloomburg; she |
|
wed Albert Martindale Jr. in 1944, and the couple went on to share a |
|
rewarding marriage that spanned more than three decades before Mr. |
|
Martindale's death in 1977; they were blessed with a daughter, |
|
Melinda, and four sons, Butch, Jack, Pat, and Michael, and their |
|
family later grew to include seven grandchildren, Gary, Amanda, |
|
Chris, Laurinda, Jonathan, Joshua, and Joseph, as well as five |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Martindales lived in Birmingham, Alabama, for a |
|
time, but eventually returned to New Boston; Mrs. Martindale's home |
|
was always a welcoming place, where her children and their friends |
|
would gather and often play a fierce game of Monopoly that lasted |
|
late into the night; in addition, this beloved woman was a longtime, |
|
active congregant of Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A friend to many and a stranger to none, Gladys |
|
Martindale touched countless lives with her warmth, her quick wit, |
|
and her joyous zest for life, and those fortunate enough to know her |
|
will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gladys Genevieve |
|
Martindale and extend heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gladys |
|
Martindale. |
