R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Gladys Genevieve Martindale of New Boston on March 25,
  2017, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of William Franklin and Nettie Hill,
  the former Gladys Hill was born on June 12, 1924, in Bloomburg; she
  wed Albert Martindale Jr. in 1944, and the couple went on to share a
  rewarding marriage that spanned more than three decades before Mr.
  Martindale's death in 1977; they were blessed with a daughter,
  Melinda, and four sons, Butch, Jack, Pat, and Michael, and their
  family later grew to include seven grandchildren, Gary, Amanda,
  Chris, Laurinda, Jonathan, Joshua, and Joseph, as well as five
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, The Martindales lived in Birmingham, Alabama, for a
  time, but eventually returned to New Boston; Mrs. Martindale's home
  was always a welcoming place, where her children and their friends
  would gather and often play a fierce game of Monopoly that lasted
  late into the night; in addition, this beloved woman was a longtime,
  active congregant of Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston;
  and
         WHEREAS, A friend to many and a stranger to none, Gladys
  Martindale touched countless lives with her warmth, her quick wit,
  and her joyous zest for life, and those fortunate enough to know her
  will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gladys Genevieve
  Martindale and extend heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gladys
  Martindale.
