R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, The annual Rio Fest BBQ Showdown takes place each |
|
|
year in Rio Grande City; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|
|
over the years, the competitors in Texas barbecue cook-offs have |
|
|
provided superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of |
|
|
palates; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An International Barbeque Cookers Association |
|
|
sanctioned state championship event, the Rio Fest BBQ Showdown |
|
|
features highly skilled pit masters putting their talents to the |
|
|
test as they vie to produce the tastiest entries in several |
|
|
different categories; along with great food and spirited |
|
|
competition, attendees can also enjoy live music, a car show, and a |
|
|
carnival; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for individuals of all ages, the |
|
|
Rio Fest BBQ Showdown is a popular celebration of Texas-style food |
|
|
that is all the more special for helping to brighten the holiday |
|
|
season for young people in the local area; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize Rio Fest BBQ Showdown and extend |
|
|
sincere best wishes to the event's organizers and participants for |
|
|
an enjoyable and rewarding experience. |
