R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Victoria Godinez was selected to participate in the |
|
|
2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the |
|
|
85th Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans as |
|
|
an aide in the office of State Representative Justin Rodriguez; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |
|
|
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university |
|
|
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |
|
|
policy interns in the offices of members of the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol, |
|
|
Ms. Godinez has provided vital assistance in handling a wide |
|
|
variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable |
|
|
experience in the field of public service, she has learned more |
|
|
about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the |
|
|
Lone Star State; she previously interned in the office of State |
|
|
Representative Chris Turner and took part in an academic seminar at |
|
|
the 2016 Democratic National Convention; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A first-generation college student, Ms. Godinez |
|
|
graduated from St. Edward's University in December 2016 with a |
|
|
bachelor's degree in political science; she contributed to the |
|
|
Student Government Association as a senator and as director of |
|
|
communications and also participated in a number of the school's |
|
|
service projects; her long-term goals include earning a doctorate |
|
|
in public policy and pursuing a career in political activism; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|
|
duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is |
|
|
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Victoria Godinez on her participation in |
|
|
the 2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Godinez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
