A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the regulation of licensed specialists in school
  psychology.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 501.260, Occupations Code, is amended by
  adding Subsections (d), (e), (f), and (g) to read as follows:
         (d)  A person licensed under this section may be employed by
  and practice in a private school.
         (e)  A person may not use the title "licensed specialist in
  school psychology" or "school psychologist" unless the person holds
  a license issued under this section.
         (f)  A person who holds a license under this section may not
  use the title "nationally certified school psychologist" unless the
  person holds the appropriate credentials as designated by the
  National Association of School Psychologists or a successor
  organization.
         (g)  A person who holds a license under this section may not
  use a title that represents that the person is licensed under
  Section 501.252 unless the person holds a license under that
  section. A person who holds a license under this section may not
  use the title designated by the board under Section 501.259 unless
  the person holds a license under that section.
         SECTION 2.  Sections 501.260(e), (f), and (g), Occupations
  Code, as added by this Act, apply only to conduct that occurs on or
  after the effective date of this Act. Conduct that occurs before the
  effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the
  date the conduct occurred, and the former law is continued in effect
  for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
