A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of public institutions of higher |
|
education for formula funding for health-related institutions. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 61.0591 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 61.0591. ELIGIBILITY FOR CERTAIN FORMULA FUNDING. An |
|
institution of higher education created on or after January 1, |
|
2017, is eligible for formula funding under formulas established |
|
for health-related institutions under Section 61.059 only if a |
|
statute: |
|
(1) created or authorized creation of the particular |
|
institution; or |
|
(2) expressly provides that the particular |
|
institution is eligible for that formula funding. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
