A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to procedures for uniform procedures for conducting an |
|
|
election. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 128.001, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) The secretary of state shall compile a list of uniform |
|
|
procedures prescribed under this section for conducting an |
|
|
election; for reconciliation of votes; and for the canvassing of |
|
|
votes. The list of procedures must apply uniformly across the |
|
|
state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 128.001, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) Notwithstanding any other law, the list of procedures |
|
|
required by Subsection (d) shall include procedures for: |
|
|
(1) Conducting an election; |
|
|
(2) Recalculation of votes; |
|
|
(3) Canvassing of votes; |
|
|
(4) Rights and responsibilities of poll watchers. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
