A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to election of the board of directors of the Deaf Smith |
|
|
County Hospital District. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1020.051(c), Special District Local Laws |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) An election shall be held on the uniform election date |
|
|
in November [May] of each appropriate year to elect the appropriate |
|
|
number of directors. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) At the election of the board of directors of |
|
|
the Deaf Smith County Hospital District scheduled to be held in |
|
|
November 2018, all board member positions will be up for election. |
|
|
The terms of the directors serving immediately before the date of |
|
|
the election expire on the date a majority of the directors elected |
|
|
at the November 2018 election have qualified for office. |
|
|
(b) The members of the board of directors elected in |
|
|
November 2018 under Subsection (a) of this section shall draw lots |
|
|
to determine which three directors shall serve two-year terms and |
|
|
which four directors shall serve three-year terms. |
|
|
(c) Successor directors shall serve three-year terms. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2018. |
