SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Jerry Ronald Walker
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Little Elm in mourning the loss of Detective Jerry
  Ronald Walker, who died in the line of duty on January 17, 2017,
  at the age of 48; and
         WHEREAS, Jerry Walker was born on November 10, 1969; he was
  a beloved member of his community who was known for always seeing
  the best in people, and he inspired all who knew him with his
  kindness, his calming presence, and his unfailing commitment to
  the service of others; and
         WHEREAS, Before beginning his career in law enforcement,
  Jerry Walker served the nation with distinction in the United
  States Army; he later served as a resource officer at Little Elm
  High School, where he mentored many struggling teenagers and
  helped them to build the confidence they needed to plan rewarding
  futures; and
         WHEREAS, Detective Walker joined the Little Elm Police
  Department in 1998; he was a model officer who gained the respect
  of colleagues for his professionalism and skill in handling
  highly sensitive situations, and he was promoted to detective in
  2013; and
         WHEREAS, Jerry Walker was beloved by many; he exemplified
  the highest ideals of a law enforcement officer, and he will long
  be remembered with admiration and respect by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Detective Jerry Ronald Walker: his parents, Beverly and
  Robert Walker; his beloved partner, Hali Grooms; his children,
  Darien, Landon, Jace, and Lexi Walker; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Jerry Walker.
