SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Greater Houston League of United Latin American Citizens Council 4241, which is hosting Operations Freedom Americana Human Trafficking Awareness Thru the Arts on January 26, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The League of United Latin American Citizens was founded in 1929 and is the oldest Hispanic civil rights organization in the country; Council 4241 was established in 2014 with the mission of addressing women's issues at the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, Operations Freedom Americana Human Trafficking Awareness Thru the Arts will offer a platform for citizens to become more aware of efforts by law enforcement agencies to eliminate human trafficking and of ways to aid in this essential work; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary event will also feature an art contest for high school fine-arts students, with winners receiving generous scholarships; and

WHEREAS, Council 4241 has made a difference in the lives of people across the region, and it is truly deserving of special recognition for hosting this outstanding program; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Greater Houston League of United Latin American Citizens Council 4241 on its commitment to civil rights and extend to its members best wishes for a successful Operations Freedom Americana Human Trafficking Awareness Thru the Arts event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
