Roger Lee Jones |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Roger Lee Jones, who |
|
|
died January 23, 2017, at the age of 68; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Roger Jones was born on August 15, 1948, and he |
|
|
was raised in the Joppa community of Dallas; he received his |
|
|
early education in Dallas County schools, and he graduated from |
|
|
John F. Kennedy High School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones earned a bachelor of arts degree in |
|
|
history and a master of arts degree in urban affairs from The |
|
|
University of Texas at Arlington; he worked in urban development |
|
|
for the Cities of Fort Worth and Arlington and for Neighborhood |
|
|
Housing Services of Dallas, and he served as a consultant across |
|
|
the country when he began working with the Developmental Training |
|
|
Institute in Baltimore, Maryland; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Jones brought his wealth of knowledge |
|
|
to the Texas Legislature as a legislative aide for Senator Royce |
|
|
West; during his two years of service, he provided invaluable |
|
|
advice in such areas as economic development and business and |
|
|
commerce, and he created the review procedure for Housing Tax |
|
|
Credit applications; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Roger Jones was a loving father who was widely |
|
|
respected for his service on behalf of communities in Texas and |
|
|
throughout the nation; he was beloved by many, and he leaves |
|
|
behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were |
|
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Roger Lee Jones; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Roger Jones. |
