SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join Texans across the state in celebrating January 31, 2017, as
  Kleberg County Day at the Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, Kleberg County was organized in 1913 by the Texas
  Legislature and is named in honor of early settler Robert Justus
  Kleberg; and
 
         WHEREAS, Located south of Corpus Christi and bordering the
  Gulf of Mexico and Baffin Bay, Kleberg County was inhabited by
  Karankawa and Coahuiltecan Indians when the early Spanish
  explorers arrived; the area became a part of the Spanish province
  of Nuevo Santander; and
 
         WHEREAS, Kingsville is the county seat and largest town,
  and other communities include Riviera and Loyola Beach; the
  county offers a wide range of recreational opportunities and
  events, including boating, hunting, fishing, the Padre Island
  National Seashore, the annual Naval Relief Festival, and the
  Fiesta de Colores; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Kleberg County are eagerly facing
  the future while continuing to celebrate their rich and colorful
  past; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Kleberg County on
  their many contributions to the growth and prosperity of our
  state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Kleberg
  County Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the people of Kleberg County as an expression of esteem from the
  Texas Senate.
