SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the Texas Midwest Community Network and Texans across the state in celebrating February 7, 2017, as Texas Midwest Day at the Capitol; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Midwest Community Network is an alliance that was established in 1994 to promote regional identity and to foster cooperation on economic growth, tourism development, regional promotion, and legislative awareness among 50 communities in the 32 counties surrounding Abilene; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary organization also works to identify emerging community leaders and to develop their skills by deepening their understanding of regional issues and facilitating networking opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Texas Midwest Day provides a chance for the network's delegation to meet with legislators and discuss issues of importance to the region, as well as to hear legislative briefings by state officials and attend a reception honoring the legislators representing the Midwest region; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Midwest Community Network plays a vital role in strengthening our state by providing a strong voice for rural Texans and encouraging civic participation in the legislative process, and it is truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby recognize February 7, 2017, as Texas Midwest Day at the Capitol and extend best wishes to the Texas Midwest Community Network delegation for a successful and memorable event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion.
