SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Eduardo Genis Aguilar
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Eduardo Genis
  Aguilar, who died August 2, 2016, at the age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1936, Eduardo Aguilar was a longtime
  resident of Brownsville; he touched the lives of others through
  his kindness, his wise counsel, and his contributions to the
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Ed Aguilar was a respected educator who taught
  Spanish and French at The University of Texas at Brownsville and
  Texas Southmost College for many years; and
         WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Ed served in a
  number of leadership roles; he was a potentate of the local
  Shriners chapter, and he was president of the West Brownsville
  Lions Club; he was a congregant of the First United Methodist
  Church, where he served on several boards and as the church
  treasurer; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Ed Aguilar was
  respected and admired by many, and he leaves behind memories that
  will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Eduardo Genis Aguilar; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Eduardo Aguilar.
