SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Project Vida on the occasion of its 25th
  anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Project Vida was founded in 1991 in the Chamizal
  neighborhood of south-central El Paso to support the community's
  needs and to help its residents improve their lives; it was
  initiated with contributions from the Presbyterian Church
  (U.S.A.) and Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and it continues
  its work today with financial support from these sustaining
  partners, as well as from a wide range of other public and private
  entities; and
 
         WHEREAS, The organization has expanded its mission's scope
  to include neighborhoods throughout the El Paso region, along
  with communities in Hudspeth County and area colonias; and
 
         WHEREAS, The many programs and services offered by the
  organization are administered by the Project Vida Health Center,
  which operates a network of 13 clinics, the Wellness and Health
  Education Division, the P. V. Community Development Corporation,
  the Microenterprise Technical Assistance Program, and the
  Education Department; and
 
         WHEREAS, Project Vida continues to make a profound
  difference in the lives of countless people throughout the El
  Paso area, and it is truly fitting that it receive special
  recognition for its outstanding work supporting underserved
  communities; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to all associated with Project
  Vida on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and extend to its
  staff and volunteers best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  this exemplary organization as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
