SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 186
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the First State Bank of Brownsboro on the occasion of
  its 100th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, On January 22, 1917, a group of businessmen joined
together to form a bank in Brownsboro; the bank was officially
chartered on February 17, 1917, and its founding members included
  J. T. Larue, E. B. Larue, W. J. Stuart, and Ivy Fulgham; and
WHEREAS, Ivy Fulgham served as the bank's first cashier,
and in the early years, he carried money by horseback to the
neighboring town of Ben Wheeler, where he secured the funds in a
vault; his son, Joe Bryan Fulgham, began working as an assistant
cashier at the bank in 1955, and he took over as president when
his father died in 1962; today, Ivy Fulgham's grandson, Jeff
Fulgham, serves as the bank's chief executive officer; and
WHEREAS, The First State Bank of Brownsboro has changed
considerably since its humble beginnings; the institution has
grown to include branches in Murchison and Athens and now has
assets of more than $100 million, yet customers continue to
depend on the same courteous and professional customer service
that the bank has provided for a century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate the staff and administrators of
the First State Bank of Brownsboro on 100 years of service in the
  community and extend to them best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the bank as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
