SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 202
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai, who recently retired
  after more than two decades of outstanding service with the
  United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve; and
 
         WHEREAS, Chief Tai enlisted in the United States Navy in
  1992 and completed his recruit training in Orlando, Florida;
  after his graduation from Personnelman "A" School, he served
  aboard the USS George Washington and was deployed to various
  ports around the world, including ports in the Mediterranean and
  Adriatic Seas and in the Persian and Arabian Gulfs; and
 
         WHEREAS, After his separation from active duty, he
  continued to serve his country by joining the United States Navy
  Reserve; his reserve duty history includes time spent with the
  Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and with the SEAL
  Delivery Vehicle Team 2; he was recalled to active duty in 2003
  and served for two years in support of the Commander of the United
  States Naval Forces in Europe; and
 
         WHEREAS, His awards and decorations include the Navy
  Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Naval
  Reserve Meritorious Service Medal; while serving as a reservist,
  he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University; and
 
         WHEREAS, Chief Tai has served the nation with distinction,
  and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for
  his outstanding military career; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai on his
  exceptional military service and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
