SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 202
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai, who recently retired |
|
|
after more than two decades of outstanding service with the |
|
|
United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Tai enlisted in the United States Navy in |
|
|
1992 and completed his recruit training in Orlando, Florida; |
|
|
after his graduation from Personnelman "A" School, he served |
|
|
aboard the USS George Washington and was deployed to various |
|
|
ports around the world, including ports in the Mediterranean and |
|
|
Adriatic Seas and in the Persian and Arabian Gulfs; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, After his separation from active duty, he |
|
|
continued to serve his country by joining the United States Navy |
|
|
Reserve; his reserve duty history includes time spent with the |
|
|
Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and with the SEAL |
|
|
Delivery Vehicle Team 2; he was recalled to active duty in 2003 |
|
|
and served for two years in support of the Commander of the United |
|
|
States Naval Forces in Europe; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, His awards and decorations include the Navy |
|
|
Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Naval |
|
|
Reserve Meritorious Service Medal; while serving as a reservist, |
|
|
he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Tai has served the nation with distinction, |
|
|
and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for |
|
|
his outstanding military career; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai on his |
|
|
exceptional military service and extend to him best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
