SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Colonel Adrian B. Nettles, who is retiring after a
  distinguished 31-year career in the United States Army and the
  Texas Army National Guard; and
         WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles is retiring from the position of
  general counsel for the Texas Army National Guard Joint Force
  Headquarters, where he served as the principal legal advisor for
  intelligence oversight and policy and regulation interpretation;
  he also assisted with legislative affairs at the Joint Force
  Headquarters; and
         WHEREAS, He received his commission as an officer in 1985
  through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Texas A&M
  University; he went on to earn a juris doctor degree from the
  South Texas College of Law; and
         WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles had four overseas deployments,
  beginning in 2000 in Bosnia, where he served as a chief of
  international and operational law; he went on to serve in three
  additional combat deployments, one in Afghanistan and two in
  Iraq; while in Iraq, he was appointed as deputy Red Team chief for
  General Raymond T. Odierno; and
         WHEREAS, His many awards and decorations include the
  Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf
  clusters, the Purple Heart, and the United States Congressional
  Veterans Commendation Award; he is truly deserving of special
  recognition for his courage and sacrifice on behalf of our
  nation's ideals and principles; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Adrian B. Nettles on his
  outstanding service and dedication to duty and extend to him
  best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
