Everett Blanford Scott |
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott of Mineola, who |
|
passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, Everett Scott was born to Cooper and Ollie Scott |
|
on November 7, 1924, in Goodlett; he served his nation during |
|
World War II in the United States Navy and later joined the army, |
|
serving for a total of 32 years and retiring from the Texas Army |
|
National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel; in civilian |
|
life, this esteemed Texan served as a Texas state trooper and as |
|
chief of police in Grapevine; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime congregant of the First Baptist Church |
|
in Mineola, Everett Scott attended the Couples Three Sunday school |
|
class and proudly served on the committee to renovate the church |
|
sanctuary; he was also active in his local Rotary Club and served |
|
on the executive board for the Mineola League of the Arts; and |
|
WHEREAS, The loss of Colonel Scott is deeply felt by all |
|
who appreciated his warm smile and hospitality, and his memory |
|
will always be cherished by the numerous friends that he made |
|
through the years, as well as by the many people whose lives he |
|
forever enriched; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lieutenant |
|
Colonel Everett Blanford Scott and extend sincere condolences to |
|
the members of his family: to his wife, Pat Scott; to his sons, |
|
Everett Ross Scott and his wife, Joanie, and Gary Wayne Scott |
|
and his wife, Debbie; to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Lynn |
|
Garcia-Ortiz, and stepsons, Robert Allen Blair, Donald Lynden |
|
Blair, and David Ted Blair; to his 16 grandchildren and 19 |
|
great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|
so in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott. |
