SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 218
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Everett Blanford Scott
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott of Mineola, who
  passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Everett Scott was born to Cooper and Ollie Scott
  on November 7, 1924, in Goodlett; he served his nation during
  World War II in the United States Navy and later joined the army,
  serving for a total of 32 years and retiring from the Texas Army
  National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel; in civilian
  life, this esteemed Texan served as a Texas state trooper and as
  chief of police in Grapevine; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime congregant of the First Baptist Church
  in Mineola, Everett Scott attended the Couples Three Sunday school
  class and proudly served on the committee to renovate the church
  sanctuary; he was also active in his local Rotary Club and served
  on the executive board for the Mineola League of the Arts; and
         WHEREAS, The loss of Colonel Scott is deeply felt by all
  who appreciated his warm smile and hospitality, and his memory
  will always be cherished by the numerous friends that he made
  through the years, as well as by the many people whose lives he
  forever enriched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lieutenant
  Colonel Everett Blanford Scott and extend sincere condolences to
  the members of his family:  to his wife, Pat Scott; to his sons,
  Everett Ross Scott and his wife, Joanie, and Gary Wayne Scott
  and his wife, Debbie; to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Lynn
  Garcia-Ortiz, and stepsons, Robert Allen Blair, Donald Lynden
  Blair, and David Ted Blair; to his 16 grandchildren and 19
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott.
