SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 301
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce on the
  occasion of the organization's 10th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in December of 2007, the Greater Houston
  Women's Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization that
  seeks to advance and empower women and to cultivate the next
  generation of women leaders; since its establishment, the
  chamber has become the fastest-growing women's chamber in the
  United States; and
         WHEREAS, Through specialized committee work, the chamber
  is able to take a multi-level approach to supporting women in the
  community; among its many priorities, the chamber seeks to
  provide a unified voice on legislative issues that affect women
  in business, open doors for economic leadership opportunities
  for women, establish international partnerships, and provide a
  regional network for women in health care industries; and
         WHEREAS, In an effort to support future generations of
  leaders, the chamber has partnered with the Aldine, Conroe,
  Cy-Fair, Dickinson, Fort Bend, Goose Creek, Houston, Spring, and
  Spring Branch Independent School Districts to facilitate
  mentorship programs and scholarship opportunities for emerging
  leaders and to encourage young women to pursue careers in
  science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics; and
         WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce is
  aligned with Governor Greg Abbott's goal to make Texas the number
  one state in the nation for women-owned businesses; it serves as
  a base for approximately 1,000 member businesses, and it connects
  countless community leaders, philanthropists, visionaries, and
  members of the Greater Houston workforce with each other; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend all members of the Greater Houston
  Women's Chamber of Commerce for their dedication to empowering
  women and strengthening their communities and congratulate them
  on 10 years of success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
