SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 385
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Gilbert Lozano
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of Raymondville in mourning the loss of Gilbert Lozano, who died
  February 22, 2017, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, Gilbert Lozano was born on July 13, 1944, in
  Brownsville; he was an active Boy Scout in his formative years,
  and he graduated from Edinburg High School; and
         WHEREAS, A man devoted to community and country, Mr. Lozano
  joined the United States Army in 1963, and he served with
  distinction during the Vietnam era; after his military service,
  he worked as a probation officer in Cameron County and Willacy
  County, and he retired after a 25-year career; he later entered the
  political arena to help bring better opportunities to his community,
  and in 2003, he was elected Willacy County District Clerk; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lozano shared 25 years of marriage with Viola
  Lozano, and he found immense fulfilment spending time with his
  five children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchild; he
  was an avid fisherman, and he took great pleasure working in his
  meticulously manicured yard; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved member of his community, Gilbert Lozano
  enriched the lives of all who knew him with his wisdom, his warmth,
  and his valued counsel; he leaves behind memories that will long
  be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Gilbert Lozano; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Gilbert Lozano.
