SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 387
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Houston GLBT Political Caucus and the citizens of
  Houston who are celebrating March 13, 2017, as Houston Advocacy
  Day; and
         WHEREAS, The Houston GLBT Political Caucus was founded in
  1975 and is the South's oldest civil rights organization that is
  dedicated solely to the advancement of gay, lesbian, bisexual,
  and transgender equality; and
         WHEREAS, Since its founding, the caucus has worked
  tirelessly to mobilize voters, elect pro-equality candidates,
  influence elections, and make the implementation of pro-equality
  public policy a reality; and
         WHEREAS, Houston Advocacy Day provides an opportunity for
  the caucus to meet with legislators and state officials and
  promote the introduction of legislation that ensures equality,
  equity, and access to opportunity; and
         WHEREAS, The caucus is partnering with a wide range of
  organizations as it meets with legislators, including United We
  Dream Houston, the Transgender Foundation of America, Women and
  Allies Houston, the Iota Chapter of Delta Phi Upsilon, the
  TransAdvocate, the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and
  The Montrose Center; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Houston GLBT Political Caucus on
  its commitment to equal justice under the law and extend to its
  representatives best wishes for a productive and successful
  Houston Advocacy Day; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special occasion.
