SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 397
         WHEREAS, For more than 80 years, the CITGO Petroleum
  Corporation has bolstered the prosperity and well-being of the
  Lone Star State by employing thousands of Texans and supporting
  initiatives of lasting benefit to the community; and
         WHEREAS, Headquartered in Houston, CITGO Texas Operations
  boasts an 890-acre facility in Corpus Christi that refines
  157,000 barrels of petroleum per day, provides over 1,050 Texans
  with high-paying jobs, and generates an average of $345 million a
  year in economic activity; and
         WHEREAS, CITGO's community outreach efforts include STEM
  education mentoring programs such as the award-winning CITGO
  Innovation Academy at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi,
  as well as an endowment fund that offers scholarships and financial
  support to students; the company also established coastal
  conservation and restoration initiatives in response to the
  environmental damage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and
  it provides heating oil to families in need across 25 states; and
         WHEREAS, The company's health and wellness efforts include
  transforming a former hotel in Corpus Christi into Charlie's Place, a
  leading drug rehabilitation facility; it has provided generous
  support to the Special Olympics for more than 15 years, and in the
  past three decades, it has helped raise more than $200 million for
  the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and
         WHEREAS, Of all the factors that have furthered the success
  of CITGO Texas Operations, none have been more critical than the
  company's dedicated employees across the state and its community
  partners, all of whom have helped make Texas a great place to do
  business; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout its notable history, CITGO Texas
  Operations has made a substantial contribution to the Texas economy
  while giving back to the community in myriad ways; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend CITGO Texas Operations for more than
  80 years of outstanding performance and community involvement
  and extend to all those associated with the enterprise sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for CITGO
  Texas Operations as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
