SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 401
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Texas Task Force 1, the state's premier search and
  rescue team, on the 20th anniversary of the organization's
  establishment; and
         WHEREAS, As designated by the Texas Legislature, Texas
  Task Force 1 is a part of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension
  Service and was established to provide training for individuals
  and to provide assistance in search, rescue, and recovery efforts
  following natural or human-caused disasters; and
         WHEREAS, The task force operates under the direction of the
  Texas Division of Emergency Management; since its creation, the
  task force has been deployed by three different Texas governors
  to assist with 87 disasters in the state; and
         WHEREAS, In 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency
  designated Texas Task Force 1 as one of 28 national search and
  rescue teams; Texas Task Force 1 played an integral role in the
  search and rescue mission at the World Trade Center during the
  nationwide response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks,
  and it has been deployed to more than 40 other national disasters
  outside of Texas; in 2015, FEMA recognized the task force as a
  model organization that leads the nation in effective emergency
  response performance; and
         WHEREAS, In the two decades since its creation, Texas Task
  Force 1 has removed, rescued, or recovered countless Texans
  during severe weather events, such as the 2015 Blanco River flood
  near Wimberley and the 2016 winter tornadoes that struck the
  Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex the day after Christmas; all those
  who have contributed to the success of Texas Task Force 1 can
  indeed take pride in the team's outstanding search and rescue
  performance; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend all associated with Texas Task Force
  1 for their invaluable contributions to the citizens of this state
  and to the nation and congratulate them on 20 years of success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor
  of this special anniversary.
