SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 419
         WHEREAS, George A. Faber is retiring as the director of
  visual and performing arts for the Tyler Independent School
  District in August 2017, drawing to a close a notable career in
  education that has spanned three and a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University,
  Mr. Faber earned his bachelor's degree in music in 1980 and his
  master's degree in educational leadership and administration in
  1991; he joined Tyler Independent School District as band
  director at Hubbard Middle School in 1982, and a decade later, he
  became Hubbard's assistant principal; from 1994 to 2003, he
  served as principal of Dogan Middle School; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Faber was appointed the district's director
  of visual and performing arts in 2003, and throughout his
  exemplary 14-year tenure, the district has made great strides in
  developingandmaintainingstrongartsprogramsoneverycampus;and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his successful career as an
  educator, Mr. Faber is also a jazz pianist; he fronts his own
  band, George Faber and Friends, which sometimes includes his
  wife, Anita, who sings, and his son, George Faber III, who plays
  drums; in addition, he is the Sunday morning organist for Green
  Acres Baptist Church in Tyler; and
         WHEREAS, George Faber's commitment to the highest
  standards of his profession has greatly benefited the students of
  Tyler Independent School District and earned him the respect and
  admiration of his fellow educators, and he may indeed reflect
  with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next
  exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate George A. Faber on his
  retirement from Tyler Independent School District and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mr. Faber as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
