SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 454
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Nancy Hurt Tovar for her exemplary career in education |
|
|
and for her many contributions to the Texas Elementary Principals |
|
|
and Supervisors Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar is a proud El Paso educator with deep |
|
|
roots in the El Paso Independent School District; her parents, |
|
|
Hampton and Toni Hurt, were also educators for the district, and |
|
|
they instilled in her a strong commitment to community leadership |
|
|
and educational excellence; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nancy began her career with the district as an |
|
|
elementary school teacher before becoming an assistant principal; |
|
|
she went on to serve as an elementary school principal, and |
|
|
during her nine years of leadership at Western Hills Elementary |
|
|
School, she supervised the school's reconstruction project, |
|
|
which included the construction of a 78,000-square-foot, |
|
|
state-of-the-art educational facility; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nancy has been actively involved with the Texas |
|
|
Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association throughout her |
|
|
career as an educational administrator; she served as the Region |
|
|
19 president for two years, and she began her tenure on the |
|
|
association's State Executive Committee in 2013; this year, |
|
|
Nancy is serving as the 2016-2017 state president of the |
|
|
6,000-member association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar exemplifies the highest ideals of |
|
|
educational leadership, and she has expanded the opportunities |
|
|
available to the many children who call Texas home; she is indeed |
|
|
deserving of recognition for her most recent accomplishments and |
|
|
for her dedication to improving the lives of elementary school |
|
|
students; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Nancy Hurt Tovar for her many |
|
|
contributions to her community and to the state and extend to her |
|
|
best wishes for a successful term as president of the Texas |
|
|
Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her |
|
|
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
